Description: Ka Moamoa is a cutting edge mobile computing research lab at Georgia Tech. We hold the vision that untethered computing devices have significant promise for revolutionizing global-scale applications. We have built wireless sensors for conservation, smart face masks, wearable cameras, devices for eating and stress detection, and even a battery-free Game Boy as demonstrations. The lab is led by Prof. Josiah Hester, a leader in sustainable computing technology especially for the Internet-of-Things. The lab is looking for a highly-motivated, well-rounded administrative professional to serve as research coordinator / lab manager with past experience in administrative, organization, and management roles. This role must be ready to assist in day to day tasks for managing lab operations around multiple federally funded, large scale, collaborative research projects around human health and wearable/implantable systems. The candidate will mostly conduct administrative tasks, like purchasing, inventory, reimbursements, and financial management. However, significant opportunity exists to work on the projects in the lab with students and staff. Learn more about the lab: kamoamoa.com Learn more about Prof Hester: josiahhester.com Specific Responsibilities • Administrative: Purchasing and Reimbursements supports for all thirty lab members, tracking down parts online, assembling bill of materials (BOM) for projects, ongoing organization/inventory management, Forms and signatures for Prof Hester. • Coordinating lab meetings, luncheons, and visitors. • Organizing and documenting part-time student workers and interns: documenting progress, milestones, etc. • Coordinating and assisting with human subjects studies and focus groups to gather detailed feedback on the prototype wearables, following a human centered iterative design process. This includes writing study protocols collaboratively with the team, and working with the Institutional Review Board to resolve any issues. • Helping with various lab experiments, generally non-technical, including our soil-based energy harvesting project (i.e., watering) • Social media (Twitter) presence, Keeping the lab website up-to-date.
